Questions seem to be naive a bit. Furthermore, it would have been crazy to slave or "try" to slave anyone in 21st Century. Caucasus or Chechnya is the best example to use. USSR collapsed and regime is still the same. How come? If we ask foreigners, they will say: O no... USSR collapsed because the Russians wanted democracy. - Unfortunately, the reality is way different. In the reality, USSR or Russia changed their political status to so-called "democracy" because USSR was in crisis. Crisis in USSR allowed Americans or Westerns to put in favor the idea of Democracy which officially may change the situation in Russia and stop crisis. That was the reason, and only. Otherwise, Russia would never agree to free parts that they have lost forever. But Chechnya has been a unique gamer. Chechnya received silence from the World. But nevertheless, Chechen will to become free draw Russian huge post-Soviet army out of Chechnya. According to Russia officials, Russia has lost about 40,000 of Russian soldiers. According to Chechen officials, the number is between 100,000 to 120,000. The World keeps somewhere between - 80,000. Injuries are significantly big. For example, in 1996-7 Russian TV channel "NTV" informed of hundreds of thousands injured soldiers that made it back home from Chechnya. What a terrible war that occurred in Chechnya. Especially when Chechnya lost 250,000 of civilians from 1994-1996. Russian government is always using brutal ways to destruct resistance. These brutalities exist today even on the Russian territory. Russian authorities call Chechen rebels by pretty danger word as "terrorists". Unfortunately for Russia, terrorists are those who are asking for millions of dollars, helicopter, plain, boats, ability to leave the state with money, and those who are assaulting and killing civilians. - Chechen rebels never ask for money; they never even attack civilians, even though they had the right to respond or bring the same causalities like Russia did in Chechnya. Shamil Basaev explained once in his interview. He said: "Well, we don't killing Russian civilians like they kill our civilians, we don't burn their religious temples like they burn ours, and we don't rape their women even if they rape our women. Even though we have the right to act in the same measurements according to Islam, we put a barrier for ourselves to keep our souls different from these terrorists." Honestly? - This shows that Basaev is been very much supportive of Liberal views. Basaev never said anything against democracy. He never criticized democracy. He lived in democratic state under Djokhar Dudaev' and Aslan Maskhadov' power and was very much happy of being a part of Chechen democratic state. Chechen resistance that fights against Russian Tirane in Chechnya deserves to gain financial and material support. From my point of views, Chechen rebels are one of the most democratic warriors the Earth has even seen. Chechen government in exile under Akhmed Zakayev supposed to have the authority to demand from the world of a bit support. First and last - Chechen government acts, behaves, and holds on democracy and liberal views of its people. Moreover, it is America's obligation, as the most democratic state, to support democratic movement in the Chechen Republic. America has to use its forces to liberate small and proud nations to defend their own image in the world. America must recognize Chechnya as an independent state and declare of democracy all over the globe. Freedom and Independence first to those who are risking their lives for their right to self-determination!
