Russian president Dmitry Medvedev pledges to support Georgia`s occupied Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Officials from the presidential executive office, the federal government, the supreme court, the prosecutor-general`s office and the security council, heads of power ministries and departments, and presidential aides attended a board meeting of the Federal Security Service (FSB) held in expanded format
the meeting.

Mevdedev said the protection of the borders of Abkhazia and South Ossetia were a special task for the border defense of Russia, which implies the fulfilment of the responsibility taken by Russia before these two republics.
